The Cincinnati Chili Challenge is a regional experience ran by the local tourism company, Visit Cincy. The goal is to give visitors access to a variety of Chili Parlor experiences throughout the city and reward them with a prize! I was brought on to be the brand designer for the experience.

For the logo we started wide. I wanted to convey the Chili Parlors past while trying to bring a modern aesthetic to it. The team loved the “boxed out” type style of parlors, and I had the epiphany that we should just make them oyster crackers (a signature side item) and the team unanimously agreed.

After the logo was figured out, the Visit Cincy team also wanted a mascot. We went through two rounds of revision where we played with the cuteness dial.

Initially the team wanted a more lewd or gross character, but the shareholders expressed that it should be much closer to a traditional mascot style.
